Safety Information for Cumberland Youth Baseball/Softball League

BACKGROUND CHECKS:
Background checks must be completed by all volunteers - specifically managers, coaches, league officials, umpires, elected members (both officers and board members), and anyone with repetitive contact of players.  In order to complete a background check, applicants must register as a volunteer (Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent, Snack Bar, etc.) in the CYBSL registration website.  Once this is complete, the applicant needs to send an email with a picture of their government issued photo ID (e.g. driver's license) to [email protected] .  Once a valid photo ID is received, CYBSL will instruct the background check company (JD Palatine) to email the online "Quick App" volunteer application to the applicant. The applicant will receive an email from "[email protected]".  The volunteer applicant will have 14 days to complete the online process.  Once the online application is complete, CYBSL will be notified.  Assuming there are no issues with the check, the applicant's CYBSL registration account will be updated to indicate that the background check has passed.  The applicant can login to the CYBSL registration system and confirm they passed their background check.

Process:

  1) Register as a volunteer (Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent, Snack Bar, etc.) on the CYBSL registration website
  2) Wait to receive an email with instructions for the online application
  3) Submit the online application
  4) Check to see that the background check passed (please be advised it may take a week to complete)
