Please help us not ruin a Great thing!

Good afternoon, Cumberland!

Hopefully my title caught your attention….

While we got off to a GREAT start following all of the COVID guidelines, over the past few weeks some have become a little too relaxed in following the guidelines set forth by the league.  I am following up on prior communications from the league regarding some important reminders.

We have asked a lot of our managers this season, and by in large they have done a fantastic job following the guideline set forth to them, so here is what we need from you and your guests:

  • Stay 14’ away from the dugout:  Yes, 14 feet, no exceptions.  We understand this may takeaway your favorite spot to view the game, but please remember this is about the children being able to continue to play this summer versus where you view the game from.
  • Stay 14’ away from the batting cages:  We all love to watch BP to observe and “tweak” our kid’s swing pregame, but the same rule applies to the cages as well.
  • If you need to approach the dugout to talk to your child, wear a mask!:  Non-negotiable........
  • Social Distance!:  98% of you are doing a fantastic job, THANK YOU!  Please be mindful of others space and if you can’t social distance, wear a mask!!
  • Code of Conduct:  Please remember we asked each family to sign our Code of Conduct Policy before the season began.  As the season has gone along, the number of emails, texts, calls and “insights” around town of questionable parent behavior has steadily increased with each passing week.  It is clear some fans are yearning for the return of their favorite professional sports team but remember this is Cumberland rec baseball and softball.  Simple guidance:  let the coaches coach the children and interact with the umpires……

We are simply trying to ensure the safety of the children, complete the season and avoid a viral video on Twitter of “Karen” yelling and screaming that she needs to sit next to the dugout without wearing a mask because she has a health condition…..  Please don’t be Karen…..  😊

Thank you in advance for your support.

Vice President, CYBSL
